Kusuum Home Wallpaper Hanging Instructions

Preparation

Before you hang your Kusuum Home wallpaper, it's essential to ensure you have all the necessary tools and materials ready. Begin by examining the goods to confirm that the pattern and color are accurate and as ordered. Check each roll label to ensure the run number is consistent across all rolls received. It's crucial to maintain consistent color and pattern continuity throughout your installation process.

Additionally, thoroughness is critical when preparing your walls for wallpaper application. Start by ensuring the walls are smooth, clean, and dry. Remove any existing wallpaper and loose paint, fill in any cracks or imperfections with a spackling compound, and sand them smooth afterward. Glossy or enamel walls should be lightly sanded and cleaned with a household detergent to ensure proper adhesion.

For optimal results in both longevity and installation, begin by cross-lining the walls with high-quality lining paper. Sizing, which involves applying a thin layer of paste to the lining paper, enhances its adhesion to the wall. After sizing, allow the lining to dry completely before hanging the wallcovering. This process ensures that the wall is properly prepared for wallpaper application, resulting in a smoother finish and a better overall outcome.

Wallcovering Application

As mentioned, before you start cutting and hanging, please ensure you have the correct type and quantity of wallcovering needed to complete the job. Then, carefully inspect the wallcovering for any defects before proceeding with installation.

STOP: DO NOT CUT OR INSTALL UNTIL YOU HAVE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS! IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE STOP AND CONTACT KUSUUM HOME BEFORE PROCEEDING.

Our wallpaper is meticulously crafted for paste-the-wall application, ensuring a seamless installation process. It's imperative to start with a well-prepared wall, ready to receive the adhesive directly onto its surface, not onto the back of the wallpaper. For optimal results, we recommend using a high-quality, solvent-free, fungicide-protected ready-mixed adhesive. This ensures strong adhesion and longevity for your wallpaper installation.

Once the adhesive is prepared, apply evenly to the wall, allowing ample coverage for one length of wallpaper at a time. For a secure bond, it's essential to ensure the adhesive covers an area slightly wider than the width of the paper.

IMPORTANT: IF ANY DEFECTS ARE FOUND AFTER INSTALLING THE FIRST STRIP, STOP WORK IMMEDIATELY, AND PLEASE NOTIFY KUSUUM HOME WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE INVOICE DATE.

When hanging the wallpaper, carefully align and butt the joints together. Then, using a decorator's brush, gently smooth out the surface from the center to the edges, eliminating any trapped air bubbles for a flawless finish.

Avoid excessive pressure that might squeeze out excess paste from the joints, and take care to prevent any paste from coming into contact with the brush or roller during application. Throughout the hanging process, use clean and dry hands to prevent accidental paste transfer to the wallpaper surface. Please be aware that paste can potentially damage the surface, and our company cannot be held responsible for any marks or damage caused by paste. If any paste accidentally comes into contact with the surface, promptly and lightly wipe it with a clean, damp cloth while still moist.

While we provide these instructions in good faith, it's essential to note that site conditions beyond our control may influence the installation process. Ultimately, it's the buyers' responsibility to ensure the environment is suitable for the successful installation of the wallpaper.

BEYOND THIS STAGE, WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU THAT NO COMPENSATION WILL BE PROVIDED FOR LABOR OR MATERIALS.

Trimming and Finishing

After hanging each strip, trim any excess wallpaper on the ceiling, baseboard, windows, and doors using a single-edge razor blade. The blades must be changed frequently to ensure clean and precise cuts. Extreme care should also be taken when trimming around electrical outlets to avoid damaging the wallpaper or electrical wiring.

Cleaning and Maintenance

After your wallpaper is installed, it's crucial to maintain it to ensure its longevity and appearance remain intact. To clean, gently wipe the wallpaper with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and smudges. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or scrubbers, as they may damage the surface.

Additional Wallcovering Tips

Maintain A Tidy Work Surface

An unclean pasting table can mean soiled wallpaper. So, when applying the paste, keep your pasting table as clean and paste-free as possible. At the same time, an even layer of paste is also key.

Make Sure Your Tools Are Within Reach

It can be quite bothersome when you're up on a ladder and suddenly realize you've left your brush, scissors, knife, or pencil down below. Climbing down just to fetch them can consume valuable time and become quite a hassle. To avoid this inconvenience, keep your essential tools close at hand by storing them in your pocket.

Not only does this prevent unnecessary trips up and down the ladder, but it also guarantees that you have everything you need right at your fingertips. And don't forget, after using a tool, make it a routine to return it to your pocket for effortless access when needed later on.

Measure Twice And Cut Once

In the world of wallpapering, the timeless wisdom of "measure twice and cut once" reigns supreme. This simple yet essential rule ensures precision and accuracy in your cuts, sparing you from costly mistakes. Nothing is more disheartening than realizing you've cut a strip of wallpaper too short, rendering it unusable.

Avoid Overworking the Seams

While using a seam roller to smooth out seams may be tempting, avoiding overworking them is crucial. Excessive pressure or repeatedly rolling over the seams can damage the wallpaper and affect its appearance. Instead, gently smooth out the seams using a smoothing brush or plastic smoothing blade to ensure a seamless finish without compromising the integrity of the wallpaper.
